A petrol filter provides protection for the engine fuel supply system (carburettor or injection) by removing impurities contained in the fuel.
In petrol injection engines, the filter in an electronic injection system has to withstand a much higher pressure of around 6 bar and retains particles of 3 to 5 microns.
Direct injection systems require even higher levels of filtration capability and efficiency; and this is also delivered by Sogefi Filter Division technology.
On new generations of vehicles, the petrol filter is immersed in the petrol tank. Designed to last throughout the lifetime of the vehicle, it needs no maintenance.
